Poet Deborah J. Hunter is presenting an evening of spoken word with mixed musical styles on Friday. July 12. Deborah will be accompanied and supported by poet Phetote, Gary G. Mason (a.k.a. “OG bass”) on bass, and Damian Rozell on trumpet.
Deborah J. Hunter, a descendant of 1921 Greenwood Massacre survivors, is an award-winning poet and playwright. She is known for her rhythmic, soul-filled spoken word performances and is recognized for her career as a teaching artist and work in behavioral health. Deborah is a staunch and longtime advocate and educator on social justice issues, which are often the themes of her poetry.
