ABOUT JFJO

While navigating 30 years, 16 members, 27 albums, 11 European Tours, and sometimes 300 shows a year in the U.S., Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey has become an institution in modern music. Defined by evolution and change, the band has invented its own language, which defies genre. Beginning in Tulsa, OK in 1994 as a funky octet with MCs and horns, JFJO became an instrumental trio in 1999, a quartet in 2007, and expanded to a 9-piece ensemble for 2011's acclaimed Race Riot Suite. Celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2014, the band returned to the trio setting with two critically loved albums one of which, Millions: Live In Denver, sold out its International Record Store Day Release. Now in its 30th year as a band, JFJO returns to the well-known trio lineup of Reed Mathis (Bass & Guitar), Brian Haas (Piano), and Jason Smart (Drums). Known as the OG Jacob Fred Trio, this is the version of the band that took EVERYTHING to the next level. This is the jazz trio that U.S. News and World Report called the "#1 New Star of Jazz in the World."

"JFJO burns with a quiet intensity rather than dramatically explodes. The musicians play with a coiled looseness, improvising with quicksilver yet deliberate force. You can hear the band’s power and inventiveness creatively eroding structure, and the tension produced from that is exhilarating. If JFJO isn’t moving jazz forward, it is shifting its center of gravity interestingly askew." – JAZZTIMES

Holy Sh!t I Lived: A Solo Show by George Owens

Join us for the first Blue Whale Comedy night at LowDown of 2025 featuring a one-of-a-kind, one-man show by Tulsa-native turned international comedian George C. Owens!

Prepare to laugh until you cry and cry until you laugh in "Holy Sh!t I Lived," where Second City alum George C. Owens takes you on a rollercoaster of near-death experiences and the ultimate peril: love. See the show that earned George 5 Stars at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. From hilariously close calls to a romantic disaster that almost did him in, George's show is "a masterclass of live performance" focusing on finding humor in the darkest of times. Don’t miss this wild, heartfelt ride through life, death, and everything in between—because surviving it all is only half the story.

Holy Sh!t I Lived is a one-man show about George's apathy toward his near-death experiences, blending sketch, improv, and storytelling. It's heartfelt, fun, and—most importantly—funny.

George performed this show at the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2024 and received a 5-star review from the festival editorial.

Doors open at 7 p.m. | Show starts at 8 p.m.

Ages 21+ (Please provide a valid I.D. at the door)

ABOUT TONI ESTES

There are few who can rock sequin and fur fanny packs with conviction, but when you’re settled in your skin like Toni Estes, you can pull off just about anything. Big rope chains...a champagne cropped fade, polka dots, and plaid. Yes - if her clothes and accessories are any indication, Estes embodies all that is eclectic. From her YouTube channel and Podcast, Before The Pop, Estes is an open book of love, light, and laughter.

With her down-to-earth nature and inviting approachability, you’d never know Estes has written for the likes of Whitney Houston and sung theme songs for breakout shows like All of Us. The Grammy-nominated sister-mommy friend appeared alongside My Block label mate Erica Campbell in the TVOne show, Meet the Campbells and talked work-wife life on Campbell’s nationally syndicated radio show, Get Up Mornings. Most recently, Toni released her single ‘Stressed Out’, where she sings about the importance of not letting the day-to-day occurrences in life make you miserable.

“I feel like I’ve been around the world, met some super dope people, and I’ve enjoyed a measure of personal success, said Estes, “But I’m still me. Growth isn’t the same as transformation – at the end of the day, you’ve got to stay true to who you are, no matter where this wild ride called life takes you.”

Toni is currently a voting member of the The Recording Academy.

ABOUT ANNIE ELLICOTT

A veteran of the stage, Annie Ellicott has been performing for sold-out crowds in theater and music for 30 years. She is the frontwoman for the eight-piece jazz combo, Annie Ellicott and The Lucky 7, and recently dropped an album of upbeat jazz standards, “Happy Talk,” with pianist Scott Mcquade — available on all streaming platforms. Annie has been a reoccurring guest singer with Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, appearing with the ensemble 20 times over the last eight years across the US and Europe, performing jazz, bebop, and comedy improv. Goldblum says of Ellicott, “I always know it’s going to be fun when Annie is on the gig. She’s a wonderful jazz singer who is adventurous and surprising.” The Guardian sums the chanteuse up succinctly, “Annie Ellicott blends coquettishness with cool.” Annie is also the lead singer and songwriter for Rubyland, a cross-genre band based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

ABOUT RUBYLAND

Rubyland is a cross-genre band made up of seven songwriters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who combine elements of jazz, pop, rock, and folk to create a full-bodied and emotionally driven sound. Their live performances are often theatrical and visually colorful with whimsical costumes and set pieces bespoke to the theme of the evening. Veteran Jazz singer and lead songwriter Annie Ellicott fronts the band with dynamically soulful vocals ranging from whisper-soft to thunderous, and an unorthodox approach to the electric ukulele. David Broome (piano), Mark Southerland (saxophone), Peter Tomshany (guitar), Jordan Hehl (bass), and Nicholas Foster (drums) round out the group with a masterful command of their instruments and excellent original songs, making for a beautifully rich and charmingly eclectic ensemble.
