Silvia y Los Buenos Amigos is an exciting collaboration of Tulsa's finest musicians from various genres, presenting a high-energy evening of cumbia and chicha music.
The band includes Silvia De La Rosa (vocals), Chris Combs (guitar), Josh Raymer (percussion), Ricky Gonzalez (percussion), Andrew Bones (percussion), Matt Magerkurth (bass), Isai Mireles (keys), Bishop Marsh (trumpet), and Austin Stunkard (trumpet).
The origins of Cumbia music can be traced back to the slave trade in Colombia, where African drumming traditions were brought over and eventually combined with Spanish musical styles. It was during this period that the unique sound of cumbia was born.
