Joy Harjo

Internationally renowned performer and writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Joy Harjo is making her LowDown debut on Saturday, June 10! Harjo will recite and read poetry, tell stories, and play the saxophone.

ABOUT JOY HARJO

In 2019, Joy Harjo was appointed the 23rd United States Poet Laureate, the first Native American to hold the position. She is the author of nine books of poetry, several plays and children’s books, and two memoirs. As a musician and performer, Harjo has produced seven award-winning music albums including her newest, I Pray for My Enemies.
