An Evening with Mark Eitzel

Bob Dylan Center presents An Evening with Mark Eitzel on Friday, May 12!

Making his long-overdue Tulsa debut, highly acclaimed singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel will present an evening of impassioned balladry and heartbreaking love songs in an intimate performance at LowDown. As a solo artist and leader of the iconoclastic rock band American Music Club (AMC), Eitzel has released nearly twenty albums of gorgeous, sometimes harrowing songs that have prompted The Guardian to call him “America’s greatest living lyricist” and Rolling Stone to name him Songwriter of the Year. Born in California, raised in Japan, Taiwan and the UK, and eventually settling in San Francisco to lead AMC to the pinnacle of critical—if not commercial—success with vocal intensity and devastating songcraft, Eitzel now calls Los Angeles home and continues to write, record and perform nationally and overseas, occasionally collaborating with English playwright Simon Stephens. Eitzel’s most recent solo album, Hey Mr Ferryman, was described by Pitchfork as “like Phil Spector orchestrating a George Saunders story.” Expect this uncanny blend of musical drama and literary detail as Eitzel brings his acoustic guitars, stellar back catalogue and perhaps even a Dylan cover to LowDown for this can’t-miss show.

Doors open at 7 p.m. | Show starts at 8 p.m.
